About Melissa & Karen
Melissa Angel believes in the importance of living a balanced life, in body and mind. It was her own experiences, striving for that balance, that inspired her to become a Massage Therapist and help others find their balance. As a mother of 2, she understands that a mother’s comfort and mental state is an important part of prenatal care. Melissa is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Massachusetts. She earned her Massage Therapy Certificate in 2006 from Salter College. It was working in the field of Allied Health Care that inspired Melissa to specialize in Prenatal Massage and train under Elaine Stillerman, LMT, a leading expert in the field. Her work as a Birth Doula since 2011 also brings a special dimension to her understanding of the physiology of pregnancy, labor, and birth.
Melissa has continued her education with special training in Thai Therapy Treatment and Reiki. She always brings her experience and expertise in each of these modalities to tailor a treatment to meet your specific needs.
Karen came to being a doula beginning with her own birthing experience. In 2005 Karen started her journey with becoming a prenatal yoga teacher through Finding Inner Peace Yoga School and training to be a HypnoBirthing facilitator with Marie Mongan, the founder of HypnoBirthing. In 2008, Karen did her childbirth educator training with BACE, the Boston Association of Childbirth Educators and in 2012 Karen trained to be a doula through DONA International and became certified though Warm Welcome Birth Services in 2016.
Karen currently teaches at Newton Wellelsey Hospital and Mama & Me in JP.
We believe that every woman should be able to look back on her birth experience and see it as the most amazing day of her life. Women should be able to make choices that allow them to feel empowered during this most transformative of experiences. We want to support you in discovering what your ideal birth would be and bringing that to fruition.
"No words can express our gratitude... we don't know what we would have done without you."
